As I was driving around, looking at billboards, one ad instantly blew my mind. There were two agents dressed as ninjas, offering a HUGE 90% discount.
Real estate agents dressed up like ninjas is very creative... at least.
Guess how many clients they got after spending thousands on a huge billboard just to show this offer.
Answer: It would be a miracle if they even got one.
People have this belief that discounts are the best offers in the whole world. In reality, they just make you look like the ‘cheap guy’ and ruin your reputation if used incorrectly.
Who would trust a cheap ninja agent to sell their $200,000+ home?
It should at least be an expensive ninja.
The Core of All Ads
The most powerful piece of any ad, video, or blog is…
drumroll…
Your offer.
Without it, ads have no meaning or purpose. They just become your average boring grandma post.
Your offer can genuinely, truly make or break your ad.
A couple days ago I saw a really interesting ad about dog training. Everything was great about it.
It had a great headline that instantly caught your attention. The copy was easy to understand, and the image was great.
With all those great things in place, they still probably get bad results.
Why?
The offer is bad.
They wanted people to get on a 30-minute Zoom call with them.
30 minutes! Can you imagine the greed?
You can't ask someone to gamble 30 minutes of their life on a Zoom call, especially when it's their first time hearing about you.
Just like you wouldn't marry someone after one date.
You have to go on many dates before you ask them to marry you unless you are from a deserted Indian tribe. If you are Mowgli, you can ignore this advice.
That’s why the offer must always have a low threshold. Ease them in.
Make it easy to say yes.
They have to think of the offer as a favor, not a hassle.
We already established that discounts won't work for you, so let me open up your mind with some examples…
Get Past the Great Filter
We are bombarded on a daily basis with bad offers. Because of this, our brains became masters at filtering out bad offers.
I call it the Great Filter.
The greatest marketers always get past this filter; otherwise, ads simply don’t work.
The best way to get past it is with a ‘surprise’.
There is only one word that shakes anyone's mind… FREE.
The word 'FREE,' when used correctly, can easily triple any ad results.
Everyone loves free stuff.
Be it a mini e-book or a 5-minute video. You must give them something for free if you want to stand out from the crowd.
The one that always works wonders for me with services is… ‘a free consultation’.
This works wonders, especially for high-ticket services.
And trust me, you won’t lose any time by giving those consultations. If you are good at what you do, they will surely become paying clients.
