How To Guarantee The Success Of Your Marketing Campaigns

Who do you sell to? This might seem like a dumb question, but really… Who is your audience?

Every business owner should know the answer. Why?

You can’t sell to everyone, because not everyone needs your services. You need to know the exact group of people that are in dire need of your product at all times.

The only companies that market to everyone are whales like Coca-Cola that have hundreds of millions to test ads with. Do you have that much? Don’t think so…

In this article, I will reveal the importance of knowing your audience and how to find the exact person you should reach out to.

Let's dive into it…

The Weirdest Solution To The Problem

Back in the 60s, you had very little targeting power.

I’m not talking about the scope of a sniper, but the way to reach your customers.

There was no internet, no fax machine, you could only talk with customers through hand-written emails.

I remember a story from a marketer in the 60s.

Don’t remember his full name, but his first was John.

After countless seminars about marketing, John realized that the majority of his audience were men with crew cuts.

Strange right?

Well, he didn’t laugh it off and let it be, he came up with a strategy, a plan to sell more tickets than ever before.

He created an opportunity from a joke.

John went to every single barber shop in his area and asked for a list of customers who had crew cuts.

“Why would he spend his time doing that?” you might ask…

Since he already knew that the vast majority of his audience had crew cuts, why not just reach out to the people most likely to buy a ticket for his seminar?

If you focus solely on people who need your product, your conversion rates skyrocket.

Why would you talk to Alex, a broke 18-year-old, when you are a divorce lawyer…or sell makeup to men.

It doesn’t make sense, almost no one will buy. You are just wasting your marketing budget on nothing.

The only companies that can sell to everyone are giants like Coca-Cola, with hundreds of millions to spend on a marketing campaign featuring a photo of Messi.

You don’t have that kind of budget or connections.

The Only Way You Should Sell

We only talk only to the people who want to buy what we sell.

There is no reason to show an ad to someone else.

That is why we should always have a perfect understanding of our audience, the people most likely to buy from us.

Their gender, their age bracket, what language they use, what party they vote for, what sports they play, their income, do they have kids, hobbies…

But before all that, the first thing you must understand is how they talk and how they feel.

If you know these two things deeply, selling becomes a piece of cake.

You can take your business to new heights with just this. All the other stuff about them becomes clearer over time as you get to know your customer.

That is where real business starts, I am talking about millions…

Still not convinced?

Let’s say you just started a business selling garage doors.

The first step is to look at reviews and anything related to your ideal customer that helps you understand how they talk, what pains them, and how they feel.

If you don’t start with this, everything becomes a pain in the future, this is a must.

People who skip this step start selling flamethrowers to women.

“But what if they get it as a gift for their husband” Yes, it is possible, but I guarantee you that less than 0.1% of girls would do that.

You could have all the budget in the world and never have a profitable campaign only because you sell to the wrong people.

Why do that when you could double your conversion rates by selling flamethrowers only to men?

What do I know, if you find what kind of men buy them, you could maybe 10x your sales overnight.

Selling will be easier than ever before with the opportunities we have today, the data is infinite.

Every marketing campaign you run suddenly becomes successful, if the ad makes them say:

“Yes, he understands, he gets me, this is for me”

Every product has a target audience, trust me, you just have to dig deeper.
